The Coronavirus has affected thousands of people worldwide with the number of confirmed deaths and infections increasing daily.
This unprecedented global crisis has seen governments institute lockdown measures across contents to contain the spread of this highly infectious virus in an attempt to save lives.
For the first time, the mental health of all people are affected in some way or the other. Lockdown periods have been extended in many countries as great attempts to flatten the curve continues limiting physical movement and contact. We see each other from behind our masks with our smiles hidden.
Physical distancing and lockdown has limited our ability see friends, family and colleagues while our daily routine has changed in ways we could never have imagined. The impact of lockdown has caused heightened anxiety, fear, isolation and uncertainty.
This has resulted in extraordinary mental health challenges as citizens experience insurmountable levels of stress which continue to rise. Everyone is affected and no-one escapes the impact on our mental health yet we often suffer in silence.
Despite the turbulent situation there is hope and comfort in the fact that we are not in this alone.
Hope rises when ordinary folks – who are not famous and have no wish to be famous – come together to make a difference in the lives of those most affected by the lockdown measures, infections and families who have lost loved ones. VR-20 a collective of business leaders, social entrepreneurs and artists with a passion for mental health will simulcast a fundraising live music event on 2nd May 2020 across multiple social media platforms to keep people in isolation motivated and moving.
