WFMH Women's Mental Health Section Envisioned

Our Vision

To enhance the visibility of WFMH and the Women's Mental Health Section by advancing, advocating and facilitating networks to promote the mental health and mental wellbeing rights of all girl children and women and to elevate the voices of women with lived experience of mental health conditions across the world.

Objectives

  • To improve communication, strengthen our networks and deepen and expand our visibility and reach across the world.
  • To integrate girl children and women's mental health within WFMH structures/leadership.
  • To create awareness about girl children and women's mental health and the challenges and barriers they experience.
  • To support gender equality and empower all women and girls.
  • To provide information and training about girl children and women's mental health.
  • To promote programmes and interventions to protect and advance the mental health of girl children and women regardless of where they live or their backgrounds.
  • To promote and advocate for girl children and women's mental health rights to be in all mental health policies, legislation and interventions.

Actions

  • Improve the effectiveness of our communication and strengthen our networks by accessing and communicating with individuals, organisations and various structures via the WFMH database, international partners, Member Associations and engaging with the WFMH Board and Regional Vice Presidents. Various platforms and mediums such as: Listserve, social media, websites, etc., will be used to communicate and distribute information.
  • Participate in UN programmes and to influence recommendations on girl children and women's mental health.
  • Create awareness about girl children and women's mental health and the challenges they experience by disseminating information, writing position statements, designing infographics, hosting webinars, facilitating training, participating in WFMH Bi-Annual and Regional Congresses and ensuring that the Women's Mental Health Section on the WFMH website remains updated.
  • Promote and advocate for specific girl children and women's mental health programmes and innovations.
  • Ensure that policy briefs on girl children and women's mental health are circulated through the identified networks.
